This thermal backer board features a closed-cell extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation core, bonded to a reinforced cement-based facing layer on both sides, creating a single panel that combines structural substrate performance with high-efficiency thermal insulation. It has a thermal conductivity rating as low as 0.028W/(m·K), exceeding global energy efficiency standards, and effectively blocks heat transfer between indoor and outdoor spaces, reducing heating and cooling costs year-round. Its closed-cell core is fully water-repellent, with zero moisture absorption, so its thermal performance never degrades over time, even in humid or below-grade environments.

Unlike separate insulation and substrate systems, this thermal backer board installs in a single step, cutting installation time in half and reducing overall project costs. It is fully compatible with all common decorative finishes, from exterior cladding and siding to interior paint, tile, and stone, and works for interior walls, exterior wall interior insulation, roof underlayment, and ceiling insulation systems. It meets ASTM C578 thermal insulation standards, making it compliant with energy codes across North America, Europe, and Asia.
