Material Selection Based on Usage Scenarios
Different usage scenarios require different materials for waterproof backing boards. In home renovation scenarios such as bathrooms and kitchens, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) backing boards are common, offering good waterproof performance and physical strength at a relatively affordable price. However, in scenarios requiring higher durability and weather resistance, such as basements and roofs, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) backing boards may be more suitable, offering better wear resistance, impact resistance, and aging resistance, enabling them to withstand harsher environmental conditions.
Considering Thickness and Size
The thickness and size of the waterproof backing board should be selected appropriately based on specific usage needs and construction conditions. Generally, a backing board thickness of around 2mm provides good waterproof performance and physical strength, suitable for most common renovation and construction scenarios. For special needs, such as high-load-bearing areas or locations with special waterproofing requirements, thicker backing boards may be necessary to enhance performance. Simultaneously, the size of the backing board should be rationally selected based on the actual size and shape of the construction area to reduce waste and construction difficulty.
