Adhesion And Fixing Of Waterproof Backing Board

Apply Adhesive: Apply a uniform layer of specialized adhesive to the back of the cut waterproof backing board. When applying, ensure the adhesive is of moderate thickness, generally recommended to be between 3-5mm. This ensures sufficient adhesion while avoiding excessive thickness, which can lead to waste and weak bonding. Use a scraper or serrated tool to comb the adhesive, creating a uniform striped or mesh-like structure to increase the contact area between the adhesive and the substrate, thus improving the bonding strength of the backing board.

Attach the Backing Board: Attach the waterproof backing board, after applying the adhesive, to the substrate in the predetermined positions. During attachment, use a level or similar tool to ensure the backing board is flat and vertical, avoiding tilting, bending, or unevenness. Gently press the backing board to ensure a tight fit with the substrate, but be careful not to apply too much pressure to prevent adhesive overflow or deformation.

Fixing and Reinforcing:To further enhance the stability of the backing board, use screws, expansion bolts, or other fasteners for reinforcement. The recommended spacing for fasteners is generally around 300-400mm, but this can be adjusted based on the size and weight of the backing board and the load-bearing capacity of the substrate. When fixing, distribute the fasteners evenly at the four corners and the center of the backing board, ensuring they are firmly embedded in the substrate. However, be careful not to overtighten the fasteners to avoid damaging the surface of the backing board or causing deformation. For special areas, such as around pipes or wall corners, additional waterproofing materials or sealants can be used to enhance the waterproofing effect.
